My day at a ONE HUNDRED FIGHTER KUMITE
in the National stadium, Dublin.
September 3rd 2006.

Well, what can I say only I was gobsmacked to
witness Martial Arts expert Robert Devane -
who also holds several world titles - take on
ONE HUNDRED martial artists in TWO MINUTE
rounds which lasted over three hours.

It hasn't been done before in Dublin and
it's quite a rare happening. I was glad to
witness - and photograph this spectacular event.
Male, female and child martial artists sparred,
including my 12 year old nephew Eddie Lawlor.

At the end of all the bouts, Robert Devane
was presented with his 5th Dan blackbelt in
kickboxing, along with a trophy and belt for his
unbelievable efforts. He already holds black
belts in other styles of martial arts including
Tae Kwon Do, Karate and Kenpo - he started
at the age of five by the way!

I myself trained in Tae Kwon Do for three years
and sparred many a time, and to do five or six 2
minute rounds took a lot out of me, but for
somebody to do one hundred 2 minute rounds is
just purely unique and unreal to watch!

Take a minute to enjoy these shots of the one
hundred fighter Dublin Kumite.

Congratulations to Robert Devane!

martial arts expert Declan Kidd, who
also refereed the entire Kumite.
